Insurance companies are NOT stupid. They are in the business of making money, and they are very efficient at what they do. The reason the premiums are so high for a young person on a vehicle like a Z32 is because statistically, they have a much greater chance of wrecking the car. Now everyone likes to tell that exception to the rule story, but that's all it is, an exception. If the majority of 17 year old drivers were so responsible, the insurance premiums would reflect this. Also, you're comparing apples to oranges here.. you can't say that because you didn't wreck an econo-shitbox like a Saturn that this individual will be fine with a 300hp+ Z32. My 2c.
